Présent - French Present Tense

The French present tense, called le présent or le présent de l'indicatif, is quite similar in usage to the English present tense.

Le présent is used to express:

 
I. Current actions and situations
  Je suis fatigué.
Nous allons au marché.
I am tired.
We are going to the market.
  Habitual actions
  Il va à l'école tous les jours
Je visite mes parents le samedi.
He goes to school every day
I visit my parents on Saturdays.
  I'm from the United States Je suis des Etats Unis
Etats - States
  I come from England Je viens d'Angleterre
Angleterre - England
  See you tomorrow À demain
A demain matin - See you tomorrow morning
  Good night Bonne nuit
Bonne nuit les enfants -
Good night children
This is used to conclude the day as in going to bed.
  Farewell Adieu
